Somatic Yoga for Embodiment

From the body to the mind…

Our bodies often store the traumatic stories and stresses we can’t put into words.

Somatic Yoga offers a “bottom-up” approach to healing, starting with physical sensation to influence mental and emotional well-being. This practice isn’t about athletic proficiency; it’s about embodiment. Forget about how the pose looks and focus on how it feels.

Through mindful inquiry and gentle motion, we create a safe space to process emotions, release stored tension from trauma and stress, rewire your nervous system, and restore your natural energy flow.

Through slow, exploratory movements, you’ll learn to listen to your body’s internal wisdom, cultivate self-compassion while finding ease and freedom from the inside out.

Restorative Yoga:  A Journey into Stillness

In our Restorative Yoga sessions, we move away from “doing” and toward “being.” You will be guided through a handful of floor-based poses, each held for 5 to 20 minutes.

We utilize an array of props to ensure you feel completely weightless and supported, so your muscles can release their deep-seated tension without any active stretching. Restorative Yoga is a gentle, meditative practice that uses props – like bolsters, blankets, and blocks – to fully support the body, allowing you to hold poses for longer without effort. By creating a safe space for total stillness, this class helps quiet the mind and deeply rejuvenate the body.

Key Benefits of the Practice:

  • Nervous System Reset: Shifts the body from “fight-or-flight” into the “rest-and-digest” parasympathetic response, lowering heart rate and blood pressure.
  • Stress & Anxiety Relief: Reduces cortisol levels (the stress hormone) to help manage daily overwhelm and anxiety.
  • Improved Sleep Quality: Prepares the mind and body for deep, restorative sleep.
  • Gentle Healing: Supports recovery from injury, illness, or intense physical training by promoting circulation and natural healing processes.
  • Mindfulness: Cultivates a deeper sense of self-awareness and presence through meditative stillness.
