FAQ
Where is your office located?
Wherever there is a computer, laptop, iPad, or phone, I am 100% online, so you can take me into the comfort of your home or any space that feels safe for you to open up and talk.
What are your hours?
My hours are Monday – Thursday, 6 am – 6 pm; Friday, 6 am – 2 pm.
How long are sessions?
Generally, sessions are 50 minutes.
Do you take insurance? Why or why not?
I do not take insurance, as I want you to be in control of your healing process. Often, insurance companies want to see progress by a specific time to justify payment. When it comes to trauma, healing looks different for everyone, and I want you to be in control of that process, not the insurance company.
How do I set up an initial appointment?
Email at gwensccm@gmail.com or text (626) 346-9481 on WhatsApp to identify the best time for a complimentary consultation.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require a 24-hour cancellation notification. If the patient does not provide a 24-hour cancellation notice, they will receive a bill for the full amount of the session.
What is your professional training and experience?
I have a BA in Psychology, an MA in Human Services Counseling and Life Coaching, and an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, a certified Marriage Coach, and am Certified in Somatic and Restorative Yoga. I have extensive training in Brain Health, EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, and DBT – and over two decades of experience leading people to a place of peace.
What age ranges do you work with?
I work with adults of any age who are ready to change and willing to put in the consistent work.
Do you work with women? Men? Couples?
Yes, yes, and yes. I see women, men, and couples ready to change and willing to put in the consistent work.
What do you do in sessions with clients?
What I do depends on the client and what they want. I like to have a happy mix of processing (talking), psychoeducation (learning), Somatic & Restorative Yoga (movement), and relaxation techniques.
Do your clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?
Journaling and practicing techniques learned in session are essential to see lasting change.
What modalities do you use in your work with clients?
I use Trauma-Focused CBT, EMDR, Somatic & Restorative Yoga, Mindfulness, and Inner Child Work.
How do I get the most out of working with you?
You need to reinforce what you are learning by practicing daily. My motto is that small things often create lasting change.
How long will this process take?
It depends solely on you. I will move at your pace and gently push you when you are avoidant.
How often do you go on vacation?
I try to go once per month, even if it is just a weekend STAYcation at an oceanfront Airbnb down the street. Self-care is crucial to remaining present for my clients.
