About Therapy

The focus is on your specific needs.

While being in a therapy room with me, you will experience a nonjudgmental environment where it is safe to be yourself.

Nothing is more frustrating than an adult treating you like a parent and constantly telling you what to do.

When you work with me, you will find a collaboration focused on your wants and needs combined with my clinical expertise, working together in a beautiful harmony.

A session can include anything from crying, laughing, learning, or movement to meditation. Each encounter will be a well-thought-out experience that will move you closer to your place of peace.

About Gwen Staples, MA, LMFT, CCTP II

My mission is simple.

I want to help everyone find peace after their trauma.

Just like you, I have had multiple traumatic experiences in my life, have struggled to get out of bed, and have forced myself to smile when I felt like crying.

There was a season in my life when alcohol was the only motivating force to get me through the day. Now, the thought of being able to help one more person find relief from their pain is the driving force that keeps me craving more information and studying to obtain additional skills.

Therapists need a diversity of training.

Therefore, I have strived to become equipped to provide different approaches depending on each client’s needs.

I began my Counseling Career as a Spiritual Counselor in 2001. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ashford University in January of 2015. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Human Services Counseling with a concentration in Life Coaching that included both Marriage and Financial Coaching Certifications from Liberty University in December of 2015. I acquired a Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy, Summa Cum Laude from Touro University in August of 2018.

I obtained a Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional from EverGreen Certifications in 2020. In 2024, I became certified in Restorative Yoga and Yoga Therapy for Depression. In 2025 I gained a Certification in Somatic Yoga and Mindfulness. I have had extensive training in EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT and DBT, and over two decades of experience leading people to a place of peace.

Free time is important to me.

My therapy dog is a Yorkie-Chihuahua mix named Roxie. She is my constant companion.

In my free time, you can find me somewhere in a warm climate on a cruise or traveling anywhere that has a beautiful beach.
